Depends on details: Realize that "outside the body" can mean: on the surface of my arm, on my steering wheel, in a freezer at the lab, on a bagel, etc... So, there is no answer unless the question defines Where, What acidity (pH), What temperature, What humidity, What lighting (sunlight, amount of UV), etc.. From a daily life standpoint, there is no worry about catching HIV on any surfaces that we routinely touch.
