Mood & Anxiety: It is often difficult, but also unnecessary, for professionals to distinguish between depression and anxiety (sometimes called neurosis). Both are believed to result from similar chemical imbalances in the brain and thus respond to the same medication treatments. They also involve similar types of distorted thinking, which can be effectively treated with the same treatments (cbt, act, ipt, etc.).

Depression: Neurosis can be accompanied by depression but depression can exist without depression. Best.
