A member asked:

Can a female get std while not being sexually active for 19 years and having no such disease prior to that?thanks

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: If you didn't have even a latent infection and have had no sexual activity at all you can't get a sexually transmitted disease. However, there are sexually transmissible diseases such as herpes or HIV which can also be transmitted in ways other than sexually which can still occur. Hope this answers your question
