A member asked:

What medication effects a methacholine challenge causing false negatives? in detail please?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

There's a list of...: Things that may lead to a false negative: inhaled and oral bronchodilators, cromolyn, nedocromil, hydroxyzine, cetirizine, leukotriene modifiers, coffee, tea, cola drinks, and chocolate. Sometimes oral or inhaled corticosteroids are included in the list. Whether or not these things "cause" a negative depends on many factors. The list and more information is from the Cleveland Clinic website.
