Occlusal guard: If you are constantly running your tongue across your teeth see if your dentist will make you a tray to cover your teeth. Invisalign trays are very smooth and you most likely won't get sores on your tongue. Habits are hard to break but this may help to keep your tongue from getting so sore. Best of luck!

Medication related?: Laura, Have you taken any psychiatric medications in the recent past? There are certain drugs that can cause repetitive movements of your tongue (called tardive dyskinesia). Follow advice: Follow the advice of the other Doctors who have answered this question. Also, have your dentist check the edges of the bottom front teeth, as they frequently are worn, chipped, and sharp. If so, they can be restored, smoothed and polished. This will clearly help the pain and sores and may help reduce your need to rub against them. Get help. Good Luck.
