I have a high pitch sound in my left ear. i'm getting over a cold and i have terrible ringing in just my left ear. will it go away on its own?

Possible: Unusual for viral illness to cause unilateral ear ringing (tinnitus), but some of the meds taken for a cold more often can cause tinnitus (eg NSAIDS or antibiotics). Even excessive earwax and eardrum irritation can result in ringing.There are many other potential causes, which warrants discussion with a physician. Rarely, unilateral tinnitus can be due to tumor or blood vessel problem.
