Guessing: Hi JenniLegal23 Since the exact position of the thyroid gland isnt important for its function (it releases hormone directly into the blood stream), I'd guess that the doctor meant that the level of thyroid activity was on the edge of either too much or too little...probably too little. But as far as I know, its not a commonly used term with us general practitioners. Good luck!!
