CDC: Probably not. The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows there has never been a report of an infection with Naegleria fowleri in New York State. The infection usually comes from swimming or bathing in lakes, rivers, and hot springs or other freshwater sources. http://www.cdc.gov/parasites/naegleria/state-map.html http://www.cdc.gov/parasites/naegleria/
