See Your Doctor: With this old of a problem, you should have had a neurologic and/or orthopedic workup with a physical exam, history and some imaging including X-Rays of your neck and shoulder as well most likely an MRI. Your exam also should have looked for painful areas of Trigger Points. Ironically, one of the treatments for TP's are very simple injections (stabbing). TP's are frequently missed.
