A member asked:

My dads bp is 162/90. should he be on beta blockers? worried cause 2 weeks to see gp in uk. two scares already from atrial fibulation

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe: beta blockers aren't the first line choice for hypertension but if you need to control his heart rate because of Afib then they could be a good choice. Given his age (77) and hypertension make sure you talk with your doc about anticoagulation to reduce his stroke risk.
