Brain Changes: you said there are changes in both sides of the brain. Also not knowing the extent of the damage and if there is damage to the motor cortex or in the spinal cord it is impossible to answer your question completely. You need to seek answers from your neurologist and a neuro radiologist who may be able to see more subtleties on an MRI of the brain and spinal cord.
