Colitis: colitis is a generic word for inflammation of the colon. It can be caused by many things, and ranges in severity from completely insignificant to life-threatening, and everywhere in between. It can usually be treated with medications, but that depends on which type of colitis it is. You should consult with your GI doctor about what the recommendations are for your particular situation.
