A member asked:

What could be the cause of grey matter heterotrophia diagnosed in my recent mri?could the simple partial seizures caused due to this? any solution?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Born with it: Heterotopic grey matter is when a small island of gray matter is out of place in the white matter layer of the brain, seen on MRI. It occurs during development of the brain, and usually causes no trouble. It can be mistaken for a benign brain tumor. Rarely it can cause seizures, which can be treated with medicine. VERY rarely surgery is done to remove it if seizures are hard to control.
