Doc can answer: Frequent--daily to several times a week--headaches are most often muscular contraction headaches due to neck & scalp muscle tightness. But migraine headaches, the result of blood vessel changes, can be frequent as well. Frequent headaches require a doctor visit: after thorough history (questions) & exam, further tests may be recommended. Treatments, including prevention, are effective. Good wishes

Several thoughts: Most headaches aren't due to serious causes. But any of the following features should prompt an urgent visit to the Dr.: unusual severe headaches you haven't had in the past, HA waking you out of sleep, HA's getting increasingly worse, HA brought on by straining at stool, HA associated with loss of vision. For patient information on HA see: bit.ly/1sAz8on

Many causes: There are many causes for headaches. One common cause is not drinking enough water daily. You need 6-8 cups daily minimum. Another cause is drinking too much caffeine, alcohol or sugary drink, they too can dehydrate you and cause headaches. Another cause is taking headache medications like motrin daily. If you can correct these things and still have headaches see your doctor.
