A member asked:

What can i do to treat the flu without getting a flu shot?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Influenza: The flu shot will not help you get rid of flu once you have it. It is used in preventing you catching the flu strain for this year. Once you are diagnosed with influenza, your doctor may put you on tamiflu (oseltamivir) to reduce duration, but otherwise treatment is supportive care - hydration and controlling fevers (grandma's chicken noodle soup!).
