Many possible things: HAve you been pregnant before? Were you tryng to get pregnant? It is possible you could have had an early miscarriage and didn't even be late on your period. If you have bleeding to go through a tampon or pad an hour, you should check with your health care provider. usually heavy bleed subsides in a day and you can watch and see what happens.
