Normal range: 50's-80's for a rest heart rate is within normal variation. If the heart rate does not increase with significant exertion, that could be of concern. Two ways to evaluate if heart rate accelerates appropriately (chronotrophic competence) would be with a treadmill stress test, or with a 24 hour Holter monitor to track heart rate variability.
