Follow doc's advice: All warts are caused by HPV. (Not all HPV is warts, but all warts are HPV.) In the anus or rectum, it can be difficult to differentiate between simple warts and cancer caused by some HPV infections. At a minimum, you need to be professionally reexamined on a regular basis, and removal may be the wisest approach. Talk with the coloscopy doctor or consult a proctologist or colorectal surgeon.

STD a possibility?: Could you be describing a sexually transmitted disease, like human papillomavirus (hpv)-related anal papillomas, condyloma lata (secondary syphilis), anal warts? Noninfectious concerns may include hydradenitis supprativa, kaposi's sarcoma, lymphoma, anal cancer, more. Don't delay getting diagnosed & treated, but please take precautions not to transmit to others if infection is indeed possible.
