Skin to skin: Herpes is transmitted by skin to skin contact. If he has an outbreak on his mouth then he can transmit herpes to any area his mouth touches. A herpes outbreak on the mouth would not be transmitted via genital to anus contact. Unprotected anal intercourse is a high risk sexual act and condoms should be used.
