What are the causes of my headaches/migraines and how can i get rid of them?

Neurologist + meds: Migraines can be genetic. If you have ha at least 3 days/week, you first need to get on a preventative agent. This will reduce the frequency & intensity of the pain. You also need a med. To take for the acute ha. This is usually a triptan (ie imitrex). You want to get off of any medicine that might be causing rebound/medicine overuse ha (ie excedrin). A neurologist can help.

Get checked out: A good start at finding potential headache triggers would be to maintain a diary. Every time you have a headache write down what you were doing, the foods you ate that day, alcohol, smoking, caffeine, stress, how much sleep you had the night before, eye strain, etc. Try to find patterns in your headache so that you can learn what things to avoid. Get checked by your doctor.
