Photoreceptor: The human retina is a duplex retina with rod and cone photoreceptors. Rods function in low light as well as in bright light. Remember we need to see shapes, not just colors. Our retina is full of rods and cones that also function in receptive fields. Rods are stacked full of rhodopsin, a visual pigment and transduce photons into nerve impulses through a change in their chemical structure
