Internists: Hi ilyaf1, put simply, internal medicine is a discipline that treats diseases over the entire body that is NOT surgical. There are many subspecialties in internal medicine such as cardiology(heart), Pulmonology(lung), nephrology(kidneys), etc. that focus on one organ or a group of organs. Some are disease specialists such rheumatologists who deal not just with organs but also a group of diseases.
