Humor and laughter: help people cope with difficult issues in life thereby improving their mental health. A daily dose of laughter can lengthen our lives. It can also improve the prognosis for people struggling with serious illnesses. Like all defense mechanisms, overuse of humor can sometimes lead to denial of serious issues that may need addressing.
