Unlikely: The germ from a shingles patient is more restricted than with actual cpx. It is never in their saliva or from a cough, only through direct contact with debris from weeping sores. Normal hand washing and isolation from these sources makes your case an unlikely origin for that person. Unfortunately, cpx is quite contagious for 1-2 days before they breakout.Many never know their source.
