Possible reasons...: The hormone present in the Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD is released locally into the uterus and to the ovaries. That is one of the reasons it works well, it is not counting on being circulated to the entire body to be effective. This kind of bleeding does not sound normal. Could the IUD have become displaced? Have you taken another medication that may be interfering with the hormone in the Mirena (levonorgestrel). See your doctor
