Unlikely benefit...: An HSV2 outbreak has symptoms and an appearance that Gyns recognize. The culture is usually only done for confirmation of what is seen during the exam. This test doesn't have a lot of false positives because it is really 2 tests in one. The first is for any type of HSV. If this is positive, the reflex test is to identify the type of HSV. Its unlikely that all of these are wrong. Best wishes
