A 44-year-old member asked:
Can rowatinex help in dissolving a renal stone of 1.9 cm?
1 doctor answer • 3 doctors weighed in

Dr. Ivan Colon answered
Urology 27 years experience
NO: Its a big stone and most likely will require some type of intervention. Rowatinex does not dissolve stones and does not replace surgery as the treatment option for stones. It promotes a diuresis and relaxes urinary tract spasm, thus assisting the passage of stones. It does not have a significant effect on clearance rate of stones after swl. However, it can accelerate stone passage with no sid ef.

A 39-year-old male asked:
There is a 21mm stone in my right renal. (right renal calculus) can it be cured with medicine?

Dr. Jason Cogdill answered
Nephrology and Dialysis 17 years experience
Not likely: When a stone is bigger than 9mm there is less than a 25% chance of it passing. Yours is significantly larger. Talk to your doctor, based on the type, ultrasound waves to destroy, surgery to remove, or do nothing will likely be your options. Good luck.

A 31-year-old male asked:
What the management of multiple renal stone?
2 doctor answers • 3 doctors weighed in

Dr. Simon Kimm answered
Urology 16 years experience
See a urologist.: The management of multiple kidney stones depends on the size, position, and location of the stones. If they are small & unobstructing, they may be observed. If treatment is necessary, many techniques such as shockwave lithotripsy, ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy and removal are possible. Large stones may require pcnl or percutaneous removal. See a urologist for assessment and evaluation.
