My eyelids have been red and sore lately and sting when i put on makeup. could this be serious and cause long-term problems if i am allergic to it?

See dermatologist: Since it is sore, I am more concerned with an infection. Mascara is the most commonly contaminated eye product and should be replaced regularly. I would suggest stopping all eye make-up for at least a week and see if the problem improves. If not, see a dermatologist/allergist.
