Great question : I have seen people develop mood disorders after having undergone general anesthesia for surgery. I'm not sure what caused this. They may have been predisposed. Some cases remit spontaneously after several weeks and some required treatment with antidepressants or mood stabilizers. Pain can make some people irritable. You may want to see your doctor for an evaluation if your mood symptoms persist.
