First diagnosed the : First you need to diagnose the type of tinnitus, is this from the ear itself is it hearing loss, a neurologic syndrome, metabolic disorder, psychiatric disorder, as they can be found in many clinical settings. obviously depending on etiology there are many ways in which it can be treated. Masking: Studies show and agree with previous answer about workup first rule out pulsatile tinnitus and then audiology for hearing test and MRI of IAC to rule out tumors. If caused by NIHL, the most common cause, masking therapy can be helpful and there are specialized tinnitus clinics that can help people. White noise can also be helpful for masking .
