how long does it take ear infection to heal completely?

Dr. Hans Crumpler

It depends: Importantly, if you have been treated with antibiotics and by the time you finish your treatment symptoms have not improved or if they are worse, notify your provider for recommendations. They may need to re-examine the area or treat in a different manner. We are frequently seeing infections that can be from resistant organisms and are harder to treat with some antibiotics. Best not to wait!

Exposure to environmental airborne irritants can prolong recovery, including scents, smoke and aerosols, fumes from heating and cooking oils. see WHO on "indoor air pollution."
