Gallstones: Yes, there is a genetic predisposition to gallstones. Factors which may increase your risk include obesity, multiple pregnancies, and rapid weight loss. You only need surgery on your gallbladder if you develop symptomatic stones. If they are asymptomatic, they should be left alone. Stay thin, and contact your doctor if you develop pain in the right side of the abdomen in the future. Good luck!
