99% yes: if you have regular periods you ARE ovulating. If you skip a lot of periods you are ovulating irregularly. Spontaneous cycles will not happen without ovulation, unless medicine is used (for example, this is why women "cycle" on birth control pills.) Vaginal bleeding can happen for reasons other than menstruation, which can be confusing, this is rarely regular. Good wishes
