A member asked:

I had jaundice before 7 months. sgpt was 40 and bilirubin 2.9... two days before had 2 pegs of alcohol.now sgpt 29 and bilirubin 1.9.. any problem..?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

May be alcohol: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, bilirubin of 1.9 is not normal. You should abstain from alcohol for at least three months, discuss the advisability of having liver function tests with your doctor. If your bilirubin is still elevated ,then investigation needed.
