Disastrously low: You need a vitamin D3 supplement or more sunshine. Even people with black skins need sunshine but do not overdo it for you can also get sunburned.

Take extra Vit-D: It is not uncommon for patients with darker complexions to have a low serum Vit -D levels.Lighter complexions absorb more vit-D from sunlight.I would discuss with your doctor and he may recommend that you take a large dose of 6000 Int units daily or 50,000 IU weekly. Your goal is to get your levels > 40.It may take a year to do.
