Slow Taper Off: Slowly taper off alprazolam and zolpidem over the course of 4-8 weeks. Try reducing the alprazolam by a fourth of the dose per week. Reduce dose of zolpidem by a half x2wks then DC. Simultaneously a non addictive alternative could be added such as Trazodone or Remeron (mirtazapine). If this is ineffective, you may want to consider a mood stabilizer such as Depakote or Lithium for a possible Bipolar variant.
