A member asked:

Can we diagnose ileocecal tuberculosis by colonoscopy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: If the scope can be navigated to the cecum and a biopsy taken of the affected tissue and examined by a pathologist, TB can be diagnosed. Not finding TB on the biopsy will not exclude the disease if the affected tissue was not biopsied, e.g., if the lesion is in the ileum and not the cecum.
