Not usually: If you mean a catheter for your bladder the answer is not usually. Some surgeons have the anesthesia doctors (with the patient's permission) perform a nerve block on the operative lower extremity to help with postop pain control. Sometimes a small catheter is placed into the skin at the site of the nerve block to allow the numbing medicine to go in over a few days.
