Can vitamin c help treat pertussis?

Not really: Vitamin C can help support the immune system during periods of illness, but Pertussis is a serious bacterial infection best treated with appropriate antibiotics.

Dubious: Despite decades of trying, nobody's satisfied most of the scientific community that taking more vitamin C than you'd get in a reasonably varied diet is going to "boost your immune system". Pertussus is god-awful and we're fortunate to have immunizations and antibiotics. Eat an orange for your vitamin C and if you're sick, go with the real stuff.
