A member asked:

Can you have surgery while taking avastin (bevacizumab)?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Avoid it, if it is p: Avastin (bevacizumab) causes interference in wound healing. So it is best to stop Avastin (bevacizumab) if you need to undergo surgery. It takes 4 to 6 weeks for the Avastin (bevacizumab) effects to go away after the last dose used.. Then it is safer to do surgery. Your oncologist as well as your surgeon can/will guide you in this regard, if you have not already been told about it.
