Highly variable: There are countries where there is a great deal more alcohol USE by most people (like Italy and France) but fewer people with alcoholism. And there are countries where far more people are abstinent (particularly women) but those who drink are very likely to be alcoholic (slavic countries like Russia and Poland). It varies by ethnic group and culture, as well as societal norms.
