Help: These post stroke problems are not at all unusual. For help I would emphasize stress management techniques and avoidance of sleeping pills, tranquilizers and alcohol. Working with a psychologist or psychiatrist is worthwhile. Also with more time these problems will usually improve as well and continued improvement after strokes goes on for months and years as brain function recovery is ongoing.

Some recommendations: Try speech therapy focusing upon cognitive-behavioral approaches. The drug ritalin (methylphenidate) may help focus, and might even benefit from the Memory Enhancing agents used for Alzheimer's. Coping skills can be learned over a period of time. Good luck with this.
