If you are having nasal congestion from a cold Afrin(OTC) which is a 12 hour nose spray is much more effective(but can't use much more than 3 days). Guaifenesin in Entex is an expectorant that's been used for many years. One study recently suggested it's also not very effective. Staying well hydrated is the best expectorant
