Avoid prolonged use: Entex has 2 ingredients. One is guaifenesin, a mild cough suppressant (same as in plain robitussin). The other is phenylephrine, a decongestant. A person who feels he needs this type of medication more than 2-4 weeks should ask his primary care doctor about trying other medications. If having allergies or non-allergic runny nose, steroid nasal sprays can help.
