A member asked:

Had a succesful total thyroidectomy last week, and i let my brother clean the incision, he is a nurse, he used iodine, is it harmful?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: If he had a total thyroidectomy, he will be on replacement thyroid hormone with levothyroxin for example or other thyroid hormone preparation. Whether you had a topical exposure to iodine should not make any difference. It would not be harmful.
