Read below: If you had a miscarriage, you should be tested for MTHFR gene by DNA analysis. Many people have an inborn error in folate (folic acid) metabolism and giving more isnt the answer. More isnt better if your enzymes are not metabolizing the folate (folic acid)- which might be why you had a miscarriage. Before getting pregnant please have this checked into.

400 mcg to 1mg: Folic acid is very important up take before conception and the amount does not vary by age. The American College of OBGYN recommendes 400 micrograms a day(.4 mg). However, most use a set dose of 1mg for adequate coverage. Women with prior children affected with neural tube disorders need 4 mg a day. These are conditions like spins bifida. So, Dina a prenatal with at least .4mg folate (folic acid). I mg best.
