A member asked:

45 yr old female w/positive ana w/ nucleolar pattern; igg & complement diff.; diag. 1997 w/ fibromyalgia; recently diag. w/osteopenia in both hips; ?

Separate these Dx: Fibromyalgia is widespread pain, non-restful sleep, and severe fatigue. This is unrelated to osteopenia (painless) which is a deficiency in bone mineralization. Neither of these diagnoses (Dx) are autoimmune conditions. The ANA is a test used to confirm certain autoimmune conditions such as scleroderma and lupus. However, caution here, THE ANA ALONE CANNOT DIAGNOSE ANY CONDITION.
