Common: Birth control impants such as Nexplanon contain Progesterone only. Irregular bleeding is a common side effect of Progesterone only methods. The endometrial lining is thinned out by the chronic Progesterone exposure. Without Estrogen to counter balance it bleeding can occur at times.
