Choking hazard: The swallowing of the gum is generally not a problem. It is made of components that we can not digest so the body can't break it down, but it will eventually be passed in the stool. On the other hand gum (along with a myriad of other "treats") is considered a choking hazard and parents are cautioned not to give to small children.
