D&E: It depends on why the D&E is being recommended. If it is for a miscarriage that has not passed, alternatives are simply waiting until it passes on its own, but the longer you wait the higher the risk of infection. Another option is to use the medication to help speed that process such as Cytotec (misoprostol). There are, of course risks with this is well.
